Abstract
The proposed theological model of reading the signs of the times consists of observing the present moment of the Church and contemporary society. The Church we have before our eyes is the post-conciliar Church, and the society is the post-modern society. The article considers the thoughts and insights of several contemporary authors with different worldviews, recognizing in them the signs of the times and challenges to contemporary theological thought. Among such signs, we point out the dissatisfaction of those thinkers with utter materialism, the absence of an inner life, and the incapacity for the transcendent. Within global liberal capitalism, such forms of spiritual dissatisfaction have zero tolerance for external physical and system violence and a desire for multiculturalism, hence, they are viewed as special signs suitable for theological reading. In the conclusion, we emphasize that we should likewise restore the prophetic dimension to Christian theology, which will be fundamental in cultivating contemporary forms of holiness.
