CHARACTERISTICS OF BUSINESS ANGELS IN CROATIA

Abstract

Business angels are usually considered as wealthy individuals with a previous entrepreneurial experience who invest their own money in order to increase wealth. By investing in a particular company they do not invest only their money, but they can, if they want, be actively involved in the business and so add value to the company. Investments of business angels largely depend on their characteristics. It is commonly believed that business angels are mostly male, over the age of 50, with previous entrepreneurial experience, investing in the start-up phase of the company from the IT sector. However, the characteristics of business angels in Croatia are unknown and unexplored. Furthermore, the invisibility of the business angels market make the research extremely demanding. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to investigate and analyse the characteristics of business angels in Croatia.
