Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate and analyse the impact of the global Covid 19 pandemic on the Etsy platform. The platform gathers a community of producers and buyers of hand-made products, who spent more time at home during the pandemic, which opens up new opportunities for research on the impact of Covid 19 on the platform's financial efficiency. The results of the research on the financial indicators of operations indicate the positive effects of the pandemic, that is, the financial results of operations have improved during the closure of national economies. The positive financial results were abruptly interrupted in the last analysed period, which indicates a strong and positive correlation between the effects of the pandemic and the financial efficiency of the platform. Although the number of sellers on the platform increased continuously, and a special growth was recorded in the last analysed period, the platform recorded operational losses at the end of the Covid 19 period. The costs of maintaining the infrastructure of the platform, as well as the costs of operational business, grew faster than the income.
