Abstract

In the information age, it is impossible not to communicate. Information as a product of communication is an indivisible part of the whole process. Communication and information transfer are the subject of numerous researches. The skill of communicating and mastering emotional elements are key parameters for achieving success in an academic context. Students as a population are extremely exposed to affective elements that, in addition to affecting academic success, also affect all communication aspects that are crucial for the successful completion of the task. The aim of this research is to identify the level of emotional regulation and control of students at the University of the North and to examine whether there is a difference in emotional regulation and control of students with regard to scientific field, level of study, gender and age. The research is specific because it is limited to the geographical area that includes the two university towns of Koprivnica and Varaždin and was created as part of the graduate research. Based on the obtained research results, it can be concluded that most students of the University of the North understand, express and manage their emotions well, and that their emotions and moods have a great influence on their thinking and memory. The emotional regulation and control of the respondents differs with regard to gender, while there is no difference with regard to the scientific field, level of study and age.
