The Banchetti family from Tisno and its archival fonds

; The State Archives in Zadar, Zadar, Croatia
Abstract
The paper describes the Banchetti family, which moved from northern Italy to the Šibenik area in the late 17th century. Having settled in Tisno on the Island of Murter, as one of the leading economic actors and an engaged participant in public events of the 18th and first half of the 19th century, it has left an indelible mark on the development of the town. The work also presents the archival fonds of the family stored in the State Archives in Zadar, whose material contains records that allow for the creation of a complete sequence of family relations through five generations. Although it is a small-scale fonds with predominantly property and legal documentation and only a small number of personal files, the material represents a very valuable source, both for insight into the family’s affairs and for complementing the history of Tisno. The files enable a detailed reconstruction of the genealogical sequence and insight into the affairs of the Banchetti family. Certain documents contain information relevant for the study of the earliest organization of the municipal administration, while the files regulating land property issues contain the names of numerous localities that provide valuable data for onomastic research in the area of the Murter settlements of Tisno and Jezera.
