Abstract
Cyber-space is one of the lifeblood of the modern world, on which numerous states, international organizations, various business entities, critical infrastructures, local communities and even individuals depend very strongly. It provides numerous benefits, as well as opens a large number of risks, one of which is cybercrime. The general aim of this research is to inquire and analyze the knowledge and experiences of the student population in the use of cyberspace. The specific objectives are to: Compare the knowledge and experiences of the student population in using cyberspace from two surveys conducted two years apart; Gain insight into online behavior and internet usage patterns; Assess exposure to cybercrime. The student population was selected because, according to several parameters, it represents an extremely quality audience for conducting research. Their knowledge and experiences in using cyberspace were investigated through a comparative analysis of the results of two questionnaires. The results were used to achieve the research objectives and answer the following research question: How can we assess the knowledge and experiences of the student population in the safe use of cyberspace? In addition, the paper provides a set of recommendations on what is possible and necessary to do both at the individual level and at the institutional level so that everyone together knows more about cyberspace and to be less exposed to cybercrime as possible.
