Abstract

The goal of the paper is to research all the available material (books, archival material, church registers, etc.) in order to gather as much information as
possible about the natives, e.g. initial families of the village of Trnje. It covers
the period from the earliest found data from the second half of the 16th century
to the abolition of serfdom, i.e. to the first complete census by name in 1857.
The listed surnames are compared with surnames from the Noble municipality
of Turopolje, from which a certain number of families settled in the area of the
village of Trnje. A more detailed genesis is given for several families.
