New Testament Use of the Old Testament

Abstract

In this article my understanding of this subject has grown into a settled conviction that the NT citations of OT passages do not involve “Christological re-interpretation,” Hellenistic allegory, rabbinic midrash, Qumran-type pesher, or other methods of interpretation that distort the original meaning of the OT citations. Rather, the NT writers consistently remain faithful to the original passages in their immediate and wider OT contexts.
