Abstract

Climate change represents one of humanity’s biggest challenges. The
thesis of the research is that the key reasons for the failure of previous
efforts to mitigate climate change lie in the gap between the real nature
of this challenge, and the level of scientific development and solutions
based on it. Based on the literature analysis, four tools were selected,
which were then used for the analysis of two case studies. The case
study analysis of three decades of climate change mitigation showed
how it remained within the framework of the old scientific paradigm.
The analysis of the case study on the report of the Club of Rome “Earth
for all” indicated a step out of the framework of the old paradigm,
insufficient in relation to the real nature of the challenge. The research
confirmed the correctness of the initial thesis. Contemporary science is
in the stage of a scientific revolution. The development and adoption of
a new scientific paradigm (as well as specialist sub-paradigms) is a key
prerequisite for creating responses appropriate to the real nature of the
climate change challenges. The world around us is changing drastically,
requiring us to change our way of thinking, relations with other people,
as well as with nature; and changing the way of acting.
