Abstract

The article is devoted to style as a basic category of stylistics. Style does not have and cannot have an exact scientific definition, as it is a complex historically formed phenomenon, any definition of which threatens reductionism and simplification. The lack of a strict definition of style has given rise to several crises in stylistics because it blurred its subject matter of study. Stylistics has survived the threats posed by its absorption by other communicative sciences such as rhetoric and discourse, but the problem of style has never been solved. The most promising for the future development of modern stylistics is the understanding of style as a humanitarian text structure, proposed by Polish academician Stanisław Gajda. This definition acquires a new meaning in the modern digital era, in which one of the most important actors of communication, along with the human speaker (Homo Loquencs), is becoming artificial intelligence. Stylistics of the digital era can become an integrative transhumanitarian science, as the subject of its research are such phenomena as style, text, homo loquencs, artificial intelligence, the adequate study of which will be possible only by including the achievements of various humanities in stylistic research, but under a special stylistic point of view, preserving the basic principles of stylistics.
