Abstract

The Office for the European Integration of the Republic of Croatia published in September 1999 a comprehensive study under title “Action Plan for European Integration of the Republic of Croatia”. This study stated that the accession to the European Union is strategic aim of the Republic of Croatia. In this context the current state of integration process is analysed and the table of harmony between the Croatian law and the legal system of the EU is published. Publishing here from this table a part of it concerning social insurance and health and security at work, the introductory article analyses the current state of accession to the EU of the other European countries. Other relevant processes of formulation of the social policy inside the EU are examined too (relevancy of the Amsterdam Treaty, coordinated action against unemployment etc.), and author emphasises that Croatia has to pay attention also to these aspects of the European social policy.
