Pedagogical system of Ernst Christian Trapp – contribution to the education science

Abstract
In 1780 Trapp presented the first system of pedagogy to pedagogic public in his work Versuch einer Pädagogik. This work, being his main work, brought him the title of the philanthropic movment systematist. Pedagogical historiography agrees that Trapp’s work has undoubtly contributed to the further development of pedagogy. He is also seen as a Herbart’s predecessor. In spite of this, Trapp and his work are not present in Croatian pedagogic literature. Moreover, his name is not mentioned even in temathic contexts in which his name and his pedagigical contribution cannot be avoided. This paper is an answer to that deficit. It also shows where Trapp’s lasting contribution to the education science lies.
