Abstract

Vinko Zlamalik (1923–1991), born in Gradačac, completed primary school there and secondary school in Sarajevo before enrolling in art history at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, in 1947. Drawing on archival research, this paper examines
his university education, highlighting its role in shaping his career as a prominent art historian known for pioneering attribution studies in Croatia. It explores key influences, such as mentors and study trips, that contributed to his professional formation during this formative period.
