Abstract

The book Informatorijum za školu materinsku has defined J. A. Komensky to be the father of the pre-primary pedagogics. The notion of children being educated in their earliest stage of development should be considered within his complete tenet. Komensky was highly esteemed and the early translations of his works, edited and published by the Croatian Pedagogical Literary Assembly, prove it. His first book in the library of the C.P.L.A. was the Didactics (1871.) and then in 1886. there is another Informatorijum za školu materinsku translated by V. Z. Mařik. We can find traces of Maternal School with many people who were dealing in pre-primary education, like: Gojitba i obća učba (1867.) by Stjepan Novotny and then Rukovod za zabavište (1895.) by Antonija Cvijić up to these days, when Comenius is frequently pointed out as a praiseworthy source of ideas.
