Abstract

The main objective of this study is to present how sociopathic and psychopathic personality disorders impact the behaviour of such individuals at the workplace and how employers can act to diminish the effects of such behaviour at the workplace. The purpose is to place focus on the incidence of these disorders and analyse the relationship between these personality disorders and how they cause psychological abuse at the workplace. In addition, the purpose is to investigate the obligations and options of the employers to prevent such behaviours and/or sanction and stop them.
The study relies on the methods used in the existing investigations and on the analysis of the current regulations. The main finding in this study indicates that individuals with sociopathic and psychopathic disorders negatively impact the atmosphere at the workplace and can therefore cause psychological abuse at the workplace. It is thus the obligation of the employers to conduct a psychological assessment in order to identify such individuals in the process of hiring new employees, as well as implement effective procedure to deal with concrete situations, including those aimed at preventing such behaviour.
