Abstract
Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a life-threatening syndrome characterised by acute worsening of liver function and extrahepatic organ failure in patients with chronic liver disease. Bacterial infections are the most common trigger; however, viral and zoonotic pathogens remain underrecognized causes. We present a case of ACLF precipitated by presumed Dobrava hantavirus infection, complicated by haemorrhagic shock, acute kidney injury, and fatal outcome.
