Abstract

Based on the preliminary results of the census of 2001, the change in the population number has been considered in relation to the census of 1991, and by towns and municipalities. Polarization to the areas of population concetration (the coastal area, surroundings of large cities, Međimurje, central Slavonia), and to those of prominent depopulation (the war - engulfeld areas, Gorski Kotar, Podravina, the region of Bjelovar) was noticed, which disturbed even more the already ununiform picture of population in Croatia.
