Mirko Klarić
Abstract
This paper attempts to provide an analysis of the development of the many century long political and administrative structure of Poljica from its emergence as a separate entiy at the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century right up to its dissolution in 1807. In this sense the geographical, social and historical framework is given, which determined and steered the development of the political and administrative institutions in Poljica. Special attention is given is given to the internal political and administrative organisation of Poljica with an emphasis on the question of what Poljica in the governmental-legal sense represented - a state or a dependent territorial entity (municipality) with a certain level of autonomy.
