ACCOMMODATION CAPACITIES AS FACTORS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY OF DUBROVNIK

Abstract

The strategy of sustainable development is based on „triple bottom line“ that is unique of economic, social and environmental elements. Taking into consideration trend of development accommodation facilities in Dubrovnik the growing number of accommodation capacities can be seen. The future development has to be directed according to protection of natural resources and environmental protection and the policy of sustainable development has to be the compulsory part of development policy in accommodation facilities in Dubrovnik. Implementation of International Standard ISO 14000 can be significant „tool“ for achieving goals of environmental protection policy. The paper analyzes the state and possible trend of development in accommodation facilities and provides the directions that could be used in future development.
