Abstract

As Croatia is one of the most mine affected countries, the mine contamination problem has been recognized as one of the main obstacles to the economic development and the development of other resources. The importance of quality in the mine action system development is very high, and its main goal is restoring the mine suspected areas to their original use. Only high quality demining can guarantee an area which is safe for population and which can ensure satisfaction of its users. This paper presents some specific characteristics of the demining sector in Croatia, introduces distribution channel members and explains their tasks and responsibilities. The paper also explains the functioning of the Croatian centre for demining. The main goal of the paper is to define the importance of quality in demining and to show the specific characteristics of quality management in demining. The purpose of the paper is also to determine the level of satisfaction with actual distribution channels from the point of view of users of the demining system. Moreover, the paper investigates their opinions and suggestions. The results of the research conducted among the users of the demining system show that they are mostly satisfied with the demining distribution channels. However, results point to the deficiency of financial resources which leads to slowness of the demining process and to the dissactifaction of the users of the demining system.
