Abstract

The paper discusses the contribution by Jakov Jukić to the comprehension and criticism of the empirical sociology of religion. In most of his books, starting with Religion in a modern industrial society until the last book published during his life Faces and masks of the holy, he touches on these topics to some smaller or higher level of degree. Namely, although he has often used results of empirical research in his broadly thematic theoretical deliberations on religion, a critical detachment to certain aspects of the empirical sociology of religion is also present in his work. Those deliberations are always incentive for those who deal with complex areas of religion and they are especially close to those who research religion empirically.
