Abstract
In this article the author studies the relation betvveen religious
knowledge and religious experience in catechist-catechumenical
preparation of the young for the sacrament of confirmation.
Starting from the allegation that every mediation of faith has to
consider the mutual dependence between the external (world and
social) situation and internal experience of an individual, some
common characteristics of the young people's selfexperience at the
present time are listed: incapacity to give meaning to their own life
situation, blind pragmatism, unpopularity of the required views of life
and deeper meditation, as well as the new perception of the point of
life (to have successful life).
In the light of the mentioned moves in experiencing, thinking and
needs of the young, the preparation of the confirmands has to take
into account the demand of the life motivated faith.
Introducing the young people into the sphere of living faith
requires the mistagogical ability in discovering the relation to God.
There are four particular elements representing the essential
components of the introduction to Christian experience of God:
relating the everyday life experience to the gift and experience of the
Holy Špirit, mediating the expirience of God's own love, organizing
the creative liturgical celebrations, and introducing the personal
prayer into experience.
The rivival of the sacrament of confirmation is not possible
without the changes in pastoral practice preparation and celebration
of the sacrament of confirmation.
