IS THERE REALLY A CHANCE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRACTICAL THEORY OF SOCIAL WORK
Aleksandar Halmi
Abstract
In this article, the author considers the possibility of establishing and developing a practical theory of social work, a theory that would not be “borrowed” from other, previously constructed scientific disciplines, but one that is related to the profession of social work. The key question is whether it is possible to constitute a unique, integrated and consistent theory from dominant paradigms in the field of social science, without infringing on the integrity and identity of social work as an autonomous and autochthonous scientific discipline. The author shows the genesis of practical theory through the process of the transition of dominant paradigms in social work, keeping as the focus of his considerations a basic thought – the social construction of the theory of social work.
