Abstract
The objective of this paper was to determine the possibilities of biogas production and further utilization of AD residue after anaerobic digestion of pig manure. The mesophylic anaerobic fermentation of pig manure was conducted in a lab-scale biogas digester at the Faculty of Agriculture University of Zagreb. Both, biogas and AD quality were monitored, according to the Croatian Regulation on ecological production in plant cultivation and plant products (Official Gazzette, 91/2001). It was found that biogas was of satisfactory quality with high methane content. Moreover, since AD residue had satisfactory N:P:K and C:N ratios, heavy metals within approved limits, and was hygienically correct, it can be used in agricultural production, especially in plant production and grassland cultivation.
