Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine the possibility of introduction of carline thistle [Carlina acaulis L. subsp. simplex (Waldst. & Kit.) Nyman] to agricultural production, by evaluation of transplants cultivation method (pricking out, without pricking) regarding plant growth parameters. The crop was established in the region of Gorski kotar (Stara Sušica) in July 2005. Plant growth parameters (leaf rosette mass, the root number, length, diameter, fresh and dry mass) were measured monthly, from June to October in the year 2007. It was determined that the area of Gorski Kotar was suitable for cultivation of carline thistle, as well as that pricking out transplants had a positive effect on most of the observed parameters.
