Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the burnout syndrome at
classroom teachers, subject teachers and high school teachers, as well as to determine
the effects of the years of experience on different aspects of burnout. The Teacher
Burnout Scale, developed by Seidman and Zager (1986), was adapted and used to
asses teacher burnout. Two hundred and five classroom teachers, subject teachers and
high school teachers took part in the study. Although teachers in general did not
experience burnout, some differences between classroom teachers, subject teachers
and high school teachers were found. In comparison to other participants, classroom
teachers were more satisfied with their career and had more positive attitudes toward
students. Similarily to the other research, participants' job satisfaction evaluations
were significantly related with all of the burnout aspects.
