Abstract

Summer school in nature is a special form of educational process organized by school outside of place of residence, most often at the sea coast. Primary goal, besides swimming lessons, is enabling pupils to learn about sea and coastal life and to be educated for nature preservation. For many reasons this school plays an important role in development of children. Special educational program embraces different educational contents and curricula activities. Swimming lessons, carried out by swimming teachers, have a central place. Learning is conducted on a basis of beforehand prepared program and through play. Pupils are divided in groups depending on the level of their swimming skills in which they learn or improve basic swimming techniques. Class teachers are taking care for pupils and prepare other activities: sport and recreation, nature science education, social, literary, aesthetics, entertaining, and other activities. Underlining motive is to create educational, interested, creative, funny, and pleasant environment for pupils. This year our summer school was organized in Puntižela (Croatia) during six days in June. At the end, a survey was conducted among pupils. Results show that all participants were very satisfied with program, realization and activities.
