Abstract

This is a commentary upon the position taken by St. Paul regarding the body and the marital act as expressed in 1 Cor. 6, 12—20. The author first discusses problems assailing an individual's personal integrity. He emphasizes that personal integrity and the dignity of the body are central aspects of theological anthropology. Attitudes toward the body and the marital act are explained in light of Paul's positions regarding the theology of the human body, especially the significance of sexual relations in marriage. Conclusions are presented regarding Christian sexual ethics, with emphasis on the particular character of the sexual act in marriage. Interdisciplinary theses regarding the marital act are presented.
