Abstract
The aim of the paper was to determine the
characteristics of sprinting in boys and girls of the preschool
and and early school age, as well as to identifythe
differences in parametres of running dynamics between
boys and girls. The research has been conducted on a
sample of 133 boys and girls of 3 to 10 years of age. The
times of sprints on each five metres in a 50 metres lap and
the time of starting reaction were measured with a system
for electronic measurement. The basic descriptive
parametres have been calculated. Gender differences have
been analysed by the univariate analysis of variance.
The obtained results showed that the time in 50
metres sprinting and the time of the starting reaction were
shortened as the subject is older, while the speed following
the start and the maximum speed increased with age. The
lowest maximum speed is obtained in the three and fouryear-
olds. The highest speed is obtained in the nine and
ten-year-olds. The analysis of differences between boys
and girls of pre-school and early school age has shown are
no statistically significant differences in kinematic
parametres of sprinting according to the gender.
