Abstract

Family is the first child's environment and thereby children identify themselves with that environment. Later, their peers, teachers, TV stars, athletes take over that role. Still, parents remain primary factor in child’s upbringing, because children spend most of their time with parents, they live with parents, share everything, solve their problems. It is considered that parents take part in 70% of child’s upbringing, and another 30% goes to kindergarten, school and wider social milieu. In family, child learns its first steps, words, gets first impressions, first advices. The most important link in family life is love. In school children learn different subjects: geography, history, mathematics, but in family they learn subjects such as tolerance, respect, dialogue, trust, problem solving. Child upbringing is a hard work. On of the most difficult attempts anyone can choose is to help child in its development. Being a parent is a full time job that lasts for at least 18 years. Many researches about forming a child personality tell that family is the strongest factor that affects child personality. In the first period of child life, family is the most suitable environment for child development and education. In family, child’s social attitudes, habits, work are created. Educational style that prevailed in family importantly affects child’s personality. Many children that grow up in families characterized by misunderstanding, fights, alcoholism, drugs, are directly exposed to negative impacts and are completely deprived in family love and care. Parents in these families are not familiar with the fact that child soul is very open for effects and that its soul is also the base of a future man. The main goal of this paper was to research parental impact on education and upbringing of a child with damaged hearing. In total we have tested 38 parents whose children attend the Centre for education, upbringing and rehabilitation for hearing and speaking in Tuzla.
