Abstract

In this article the author analyzes thečakavian dialect (phonological variables) in the work of Sonja Senjanović-Peračić (in her book Probuđeni glasi, Split, 2000) and compares them with thečakavian idiom used in the writings of her son Đermano Senjanović (in his book Vidi, vidi - teletina ‘99 Zagreb, 2001).
On the basis of statistical analysis of the chosen phonological va... the author establishes the changes in thečakavian idiom. The most recent investigations in the sociolinguistic literature on language change (Milroy 2002) show that dialects in contact with the standard language first lose socially more marked features or variants. The dialect changes and a new koine is being created in its stead.
