Neolithic Settlement Danilo near Šibenik and the Level of the Adriatic Sea

Abstract

In the neolithic settlement Danilo far from the Adriatic Sea in the cultural layers the remnants of marine organisms have been found. The only known process in the rise of the sea level. The middle of the Danilo culture period was about 4,600 years B.P. At the time the sea level was 6,6 m lower than it is now. Following the valley of Ribnik rivulet Danilo settlement was than about 11 km far from the coast line.
