Abstract

Bakar tide-gauge is located in isolated Bakar Bay. This is the reason that the ''effect of inverse barometre'' is only partly valid. The highest sea level in the autumn and in december is accompained by the highest air pressure. The lower sea level in the summer months corresponds to lower air pressure. The autumn high sea level corresponds to precipitation maximum. The general rise in sea level is accompanied by downward temperature trend. The sea level curve excellently corresponds to precipitation curve. The good agreement is also shown between the bora wind frequency and annual sea leel. In the sea level curve is possible to discerne a cycle of about 18 years superimposed on a general (glacio) eustatic sea level rise.
