GEM puts the focus of German Studies on the Mediterranean. It covers the whole spectrum of the field from linguistics to literary and cultural studies. The articles in German, English or Croatian (along with English or German translation) will address questions as to how the Mediterranean is represented in German language, literature, and culture from the Middle Ages up until today. This academic journal pursues the goal to become a portal for Euromediterranean German Studies from both the German speaking regions and the Mediterranean. It is published by the Department of German Studies of the University of Zadar yearly in open access as well as in print. Upon authorial self-correction, it publishes “original academic papers”, Croatian izvorni znanstveni radovi, which distribute research results, “research reports“, Croatian pregledni rad, which critically review the state of the art and new trends in research, and “preliminary reports“, kroat. prethodno priopćenje, which inform of preliminary results of continuing research work, whose topicality, however, demands immediate publication. Contributions are subject to double-blind peer-review. In addition, reviews and discussions of conferences, monographs, and anthologies from the field of Euromeditteranean German Studies will be published upon editorial discretion.
