Poredbeno pomorsko pravo (PPP) = Comparative Maritime Law (CML) is a peer-reviewed open access law journal published annually by the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Zagreb, Croatia). The editor in chief is Prof. Emer. Jakša Barbić, PhD, Fellow of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The journal is the key periodical in the field of maritime law and the law of the sea in Croatia, but also in the region. It has an international editorial board and all the articles are peer reviewed by the leading local and foreign experts and academics. The journal was first published by the Adriatic Institute in 1958 as Uporedno pomorsko pravo i pomorska kupoprodaja = Comparative Maritime Law and Commerce. In the 1950s the Adriatic Institute was charged with the preparation and drafting of the Yugoslav maritime legislation. The aim of this periodical publication at that time was to offer solutions for the academic, professional and practical problems of maritime law; propose rules of maritime trade and transport law; provide current information on legal instruments in the field of maritime economy and international trade. The journal took its modern shape in 1983 (issue 100). Before the 1990s it was published quarterly, whilst thereafter it became an annual publication. Today the journal covers all topics of international, domestic and comparative maritime and shipping law, transport law and the international law of the sea. It is focused on publishing academic and professional articles, professional translations of the international legal instruments and documentation, digests of the leading domestic, foreign and international court and arbitral decisions, book reviews, reports from the relevant meetings, conferences, symposia and similar events. The journal is open for cooperation with the academics, researchers, and professional experts from Croatia and abroad, from universities and other academic or research institutions, judicature, state administration, shipping, transport and insurance sectors. The materials are published in Croatian or English language. The journal is supported by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports, the Foundation of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the occasional private sponsors and donators.
