Cucumber Mosaic Virus Found in Bean in Kosovo
Nysret Taraku
; Kosovo
Sažetak
The virus isolate G1 found in bean which was collected in Kosovo (southeast province of Yugoslavia) was studied. Until now virus diseases in this province of Yugoslavia were rarely the object of research; even virus diseases of legume plants in Kosovo have not been studied. Bean and some other legume plants are very important crops in this region.
The reactions to test plants caused by the isolate G1 are very similar to those of other cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) isolates. Its properties in crude infected sap were: TIP between 65 and 70° C, DEP between 0,5 X 10-3 and 10-4 and LIV about 4 days at room temerature, The virus is transmissible by aphids but not by soil. The isolate investigated was purified and electron mycroscope analyses revealed that the virus had isometric virus particles about 30 nm in diameter. It reacted positively in agar gel double diffusion tests with immune serum to CMV.
