Sažetak

Paper discusses the implementation of controlled terminology in the digital cataloging of museum collections at the Museum of Slavonia. As one of Croatia’s largest museums, Museum of Slavonia has faced numerous challenges in standardizing its documentation processes, particularly during the transition to digital systems M++ and Modulor++. Museum documentation is not just a record of objects; it plays a vital role in maintaining the historical and cultural significance of the collection.
The use of controlled terminology, which ensures consistency and accuracy in data entry, is critical for organizing and retrieving information about museum artefacts. The paper outlines procedures for developing and refining controlled terms across various fields, including dimensions, materials, techniques, and object conditions. It also highlights the ongoing cooperation among curators and documentation specialists to align the correct terminology across museum’s diverse collections.
By adopting controlled terminology, Museum of Slavonia enhances its ability to manage, protect, and present cultural heritage, ensuring that documentation is both accurate and accessible. The paper concludes that ongoing collaboration and adaptation are essential for improving the quality of museum databases and supporting long-term heritage preservation.
