Alpha decay widths of heavy nuclei

Sažetak

Previous treatments of α-decay widths of rare-earth nuclei are extended to those α-spectra which contain transitions with α-angular momentum L = 0. As before, the barrier is taken to be the non-local α-nucleus potential with exchange term, superposed on the usual Coulomb potential and reduced widths hFL calculated. It is found that for almost all odd parity transitions FL/F0 > 1 as expected and for even parity transitions FL may be less than F0. The results are discussed.
