Abstract

The response and charge resolution for the detection of near relativistic heavy ions have been investigated using the fragmented beam of 1.88 A GeV 56Fe nuclei from LBL Bevalac. The average experimental charge resolution has been found to be 0.37e for 22 < Z < 28 in place of average intrinsic charge resolution which is ≈ 0. 19e for single etch pit diameter measurement. Our observations are in accord with those obtained by other workers.
