Sažetak
This article aims to present some of the most common urologic emergencies. It describes urogenital trauma (kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra and genital injuries), kidney colic, urinary infections and urosepsis, urinary retention, and testicular torsion and Fournier’s gangrene. General practitioners rarely encounter some of these conditions. On the other hand, they encounter some of the other conditions more often. Furthermore, they are often the first physicians that these patients come to see and the first ones to provide basic medical help or refer them to an urologist. Therefore, it is important that general practitioners are familiar with urologic emergencies and with their clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment, and in this way ensure a better care for urologic patients.
