Approach to and Possibilities of the Development of Island Agriculture

Sažetak

Tbe National Program me Jar Island Development, as a strategic plan of the Croatian government,
is designed to develop agriculture as one of the basic economic activities on is-.
lands. The author discusses the approach to the development of this kind of agriculture,
analyses possibilities for its realization, and suggests instruments and measures to encourage
it. Agriculture is not an autonomous branch of the economy. It is closely integrated
into the naturai environment and economic structure of an area, and depends on social
and economic development and changes. This integrated environment must be borne in
mind when development is planned and measures undertaken to realize it.
