The influence of noradrenaline and adrenaline on lidocaine effects in the course of local anesthesia

Sažetak
The intensity of local anesthesia, systemic blood pressure level, heart rate and subjective side effects in patients undergoing tooth extraction was examined. The effects of lidocaine, lidocain with adrenaline and lidocaine with noradrenaline on metioned parameters were compared. Adrenaline and noradrenaline potentiated analgetic effect of lidocaine, but did not influence heart rate or systemic blood pressure significantly. Sometimes adrenaline and noradrenaline caused agitation, headache, vertigo, feeling of fear, shortening of breathing and palpitations. Mentioned unvonted effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline spontaneously disappeared. Significant differences
according to examined positive or unvonted effects between adrenaline were not seen. The conclusion is that lidocaine can be used alone in local anethesia procedure, but the combination with adrenaline or noradrenaline is recomanded in all the situations when the use of mentioned vasoconstrictors is not contraindicated.
