Sažetak
Within the rich and diverse opus of Gajo Petrović, one trilogy stands out: Philosophy and Marxism, Philosophy and Revolution, and The Thinking of Revolution – this trilogy makes up the essence of his original thought and the author himself named it after his ultimate position definitely reached in the “the third book of the thinking of revolution” (Petrović, 1980, 7). Petrović builds his theoretical conception gradually, in stages, trying consistently and convincingly to answer the questions on the constitution of the human and his world, and to rethink, in the frame of reference of Neomarxism of the western provenance, the given potentials of the revolutionary realization of their historical Eschaton. While in his first phase Petrović confidently exposed the thesis on Marx’s and his own work as a genuine philosophy, labeling it the philosophy of praxis, in the second and final phase he came to the conclusion that the high aspirations of the revolutionary transformation of the human and the society in the direction of the realization of the perfect man as a true human being and a perfect society as an authentic human community can be achieved only through the metaphilosophical thinking of revolution. In this paper, the author, on the one hand, elaborates his thesis that Petrović’s metaphilosophical conception by its very radicalism and presumptuousness does not go beyond metaphysics, i.e. philosophy, and, on the other, that his praxis philosophy – marking both in nominal and real terms the most significant orientation of modern Croatian philosophy – is theoreticall better founded and practically more persuasive than his sacrosanct thinking of revolution.
