Sažetak

Although it may seem that between the new religiosity and ecology there are no deeper ideological connections and similarities, the situation is quite opposite. Both movements stem from the same matrix: postmodernism. Because of this, one can speak about two faces of the same issue. Such an examle offers the Adventist Church of the Seventh Day, which addresses ecological contents. The second example are apocalyptic communities, that for the most part came into existance in France. The third example are new religious movements. In order to illustrate them the author extensively describes three new religious movements: that of the guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the International Society for the Consciousness of Krishna and the groups around the spiritual leader Sai Baba. The forth example mixes premodern and postmodern conflicts as it is the case with the ecological sect called Mandarom, which has been recently founded in France. Finally, the fifth and most developed form of religious dealing with ecology is the New Age movement. The paper ends with the ideas by A. Naess concerning the “deep ecology” and those by W. Fox which present an attempt to connect the said deep ecology with scientific results of transpersonal psychology.
