Sažetak
During July 2016 archaeological excavations at the Kalnik – Igrišče site have been continued. Remains of an above-ground structure from the northwest part of the trench were attributed to the Middle Ages (12/13th c.), confirmed by new radiocarbon analysis results. Pottery remains of Roman and Late Antique features discovered this year have been dated according to four coin finds to the second half of the 4th century. Under those layers a La Tene dug in object (SU 307) with pottery was found dated to 2nd c. BC according to a fragment of a glass bracelet. Under these layers the remains of the Bronze Age object were discovered intact. Hearth and the ruins of a kiln structure made of clay and stone were discovered in situ. Archaeological artefacts found next to those remains can be associated with metallurgy activities (ceramic nozzle, bronze ingot, slag, etc.). These are probably the remains of a metallurgical furnace and hearth. The indications about the position of the eastern part of the Bronze Age object excavated back in 2012 have been confirmed this year, but the discovery of a bronze foundry has exceeded all expectations.
