Sažetak

Mathematics plays an important and irreplaceable role in contemporary world. Despite its importance, pupils’ results are often unsatisfactory. In order to discover the cause of this, the paper examines modes through which children acquire mathematics. To understand the importance of learning methods, it is important to know students’ learning processes and data sources they use. The paper used Bandler-Grinder’s model, which classifies students into three categories: visual, auditory and physical mode. We have also predicted the fourth category, a mixed mode, for students who do not display distinctive features of the three previously mentioned modes. The survey was conducted on a sample of 150 third and fourth grade pupils, and they were divided into one of the four categories according to the results of the questionnaire. It turned out that the visual way of learning is dominant, especially among girls.
