Sažetak

Vipera ammodytes ammodytes venom produces a great variety of histopathological changes in the isolated and perfused frog and guinea pig heart, corresponding to the complexity of snake venom. These changes suggest the conclusion that the high-molecular protein-like compounds of the venom, e. g. the genuine toxins are mainly responsible for the heart effects. The small-molecular constituents as histamine, 5-0H-tryptamine and acetylcholine play apparently herein a less important role. However, further investigations with separated fractions of the venom are desirable.
