Sažetak

As part of the research entitled, »Theological Funding of Solidarity in Croatian Society«, the author investigates the »mutuality between solidarity and common good in Croatia« as the title itself suggests, i.e. based on existing social research he seeks for an answer to the question of concrete solidarity and concrete advocacy for common good in Croatia. The author starts from the mutual permeation of solidarity and common good, defining the two as did John Paul II in his encyclica »Sollicitudo rei socialis« where he defines solidarity as »firm and existing decisiveness to advocate for common good«. The author though refers to the political culture of democracy as his reference point for his overall analysis.
The article is divided into three sections: 1. solidarity as a point of motivation; 2. solidarity as a practise and 3. models of convergence. Based on the aforementioned research project, in the first section the author questions just how prevalent are solidarity and common good as a motive of activity amongst Croatian citizens, i.e. religious, humane or political motive; in the second section he analyses the practise of solidarity at an individual, group and institutional level; in the third section he deals with models of convergence that have been imposed as a consequence of the research results obtained and that are recognisable in the government, civil society and the Church.
The conclusion of this work, about solidarity and common good, observed singularly for its mutuality, is poorly developed in Croatian society. The author believes that the reason for this is the mentality of the people and the immaturity of government structures as well as insufficient religious education setting this field of work as a particular task for the Church in Croatia. All the more, because Croatian citizens place the most trust in the Church of all institutions with an accent on its social power, i. e. that field where solidarity and common good are the most intertwined.
