Sažetak

In this work semi-rigid connections and their influence on the elastic buckling load value of frame structures are presented. Equilibrium equations of a buckled beam member are derived applying linearized virtual work principle, St. Venant torsion theory and Euler-Bernoulli flexural theory. Deformations prior buckling are neglected, and material is assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic and linear-elastic. In the numerical part of the paper the hybrid S-R (semi-rigid) finite element for the modelling of frames containing connections of various rigidity is presented. Elastic and geometric stiffness matrices of the S-R element are derived by transformation of the conventional beam finite element stiffness matrices. Stability analysis is treated as an eigenvalue problem. On the basis of the aforementioned numerical algorithm, the computer program EIGEN-SR is developed. Accuracy of the programme is verified through appropriate examples proving, thus, the modelling of frames as semi-rigid ones is justified.
