Abuse of children in family

Sažetak

Definitions and various types of child abuse are considered: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
and neglect of children. Causes of abuse and neglect are analysed within the framework of traditional
and integrative models of explanation. The effects of abuse on physical and psychological
development and health of children are described. Within the framework of a medicine model of
prevention are presented some of the possible procedures on the level of whole society, local society,
family and single person. There is reference about the protection children in Croatia through the legal
system and through some other institutes of society.
